On Empowerment and Options:
Last night I had the pleasure and privilege of presenting to an entire group of women from an affinity group in greater Charlotte.

As a woman who has not only persevered and succeeded in my industry, I support businesses and individuals with Growth and Performance strategies on a daily basis.

One of the first things I establish with any client is creating options to install stability by design and growth with intention.

'Options' is the word I chose to kick off our evening workshop.

When it comes to career growth, far too many people see their options as very narrow and limited in scope. The same applies to job titles. All of this leading to restriction in compensation and career fulfillment.

I shared with this wonderful audience that the biggest take away for the evening would be for them to see their life and their career as having more and not less options.

We started with being very clear clear on the purpose you feel in your heart whether at work or not.

Once you are incredibly crystal clear of the entire roll up of who you are including
your natural talents
your hard earned skills
your personality
your perceived reality
your aspirations

Then and only then can you begin in crafting the communication and conversations you want to have with the world about your career.

Whether it be promotions, scope of work, growth, new opportunities, compensation changes, work life harmony, any and all require carefully thought out ongoing conversations in presentations.

Here is one strategy I offered the group to avoid conflict, increase collaboration and drive results that applies to many situations.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Draft up a document including important talking points and/or any data or charts you need when you want to enter one of these conversations.
It demonstrates thoughtfulness and preparation and it brings a third 'entity' into the conversation rather than the confrontation that could exist between you and directly speaking with the other person. The 2 of you can look at and refer to the document as the thing that needs collaboration and oversight.

This removes some of the binary nature of these conversations (yes/no black/white now/later) and turns them instead into ongoing, productive conversations.

We had a lot of wide open conversations with many individuals bringing up personal situations we could address during our initial hour plus zoom call.

Remember who you are.
Remember that you have options. Remember to be clear.
Remember there are a lot of people who want to help you if they understand what you're looking for.
Remember that you establish your value, not others.
Remember that the more you open your mind, the more options come into view.

Thank you again for inviting me to host this event. Much more to come.
