Juneteenth.
If your first reaction is not positive, it most likely means you don't have enough information. That's OK. We're all learning and growing.
But it's impossible to be against something like this once you have educated yourself.
Juneteenth.
A long overdue recognition of basic freedom.
Freedom from being owned.
Freedom from slavery.
Freedom to have the same opportunities.
Freedom to live your life freely.
Freedom to experience liberty.
Freedom to have a real shot at happiness.
Freedom from instant judgment.
Freedom to make mistakes like everyone else and learn from them.
Freedom to be unbothered by others.
Freedom from worrying what will happen to your children.
Freedom that brings peace and peace of mind.
Juneteenth is a long overdue celebration of what is possible and what we can be, what we are called to be, never looking back except to learn and grow.
As I learn and grow I invite you to do the same.
If you have genuine questions about this holiday and want to ask, contact me directly. I have several friends who are much more informed than I am. I'm glad to share my time and I know they will as well.
Let's commit to being #BetterTogether.
No one should have to ask to be included in this conversation.
In these United States, it's not your privilege to offer freedom.
It's everyone's right to have it.
Onward.
