Phrases to Rethink in 2021

Interesting conversation. What words or phrases have you heard yourself or others saying lately? Raising our awareness starts with hearing ourselves when we talk and committing to upskilling our language and to align with our intentions for 2021.

We know you mean well, let others hear the words that better reflect your thoughts for all listeners.

On the Language We Learned.
"Behind every good man there's a good woman."

One could easily try to explain away saying, "Well that means they're giving the woman some credit for his success."

Read that again.

What does that pay?
Where does that ultimately get 'her'?
And is this everything it's saying?

Much of the reason we primarily have men in leadership positions is due to their availability, access to and the commitment of a woman who can carry the load for them, unburdening them from distractions of home and aiding in their career pursuits.

They had more time and they took it.

Behind good, hard-working, talented women, what, no, who do we see?

Yes, we often see her kids, but they're not contributing.

Who is, who will?

Get behind the women you know.
Offer your support.
Invite her.
Don't just accept her presence, appreciate it and learn.
Your roundtable meetings, annual planning...where are they?

Great leadership realizes their businesses are missing out without more women not merely seated at the table but contributing and influencing.

Ask yourself, "Who is behind Her?"
We can learn from the words we learned- and re-learn.

Look around.

Get busy. Find out what it is you really want to be doing next and even next after that. Do the work that needs to be done. Start exploring new career opportunities and keep your attitude up! If you are really committed to it the path will emerge after you slice your way through it and the income will be there along with a renewed sense of purpose. But it all starts with you."

Inspiring Leaders, Inspiring Leaders

Two completely separate conversations this week with business leaders in very different organizations, yet a similar conversation unfolded.

Both have vision. Want to go forward. Both see opportunities in front of them and those lurking on the horizon.

Both built powerful, profitable companies serving their people and clients well.

But both were challenged with how to go forward to the next level of possibility.

After merely a few questions of the type I ask routinely, it was clear to me.

The leaders they had chosen for the first leg of their journey were not the leaders who would or could carry them to the next vista.

I ask you this today:
Are you more loyal to your vision or a single person that you placed in a leadership role when your company was in its infancy?

Are you more loyal to your entire company, and everything that you believe it can be for your people + clients and you, or an individual influencing all growth decisions?

Think:
The leaders who instructed you as a child so well were most likely not the best guides to effectively help you progress as your grew.

Your early teachers were not bad, au contraire! They were perfect.
Then.

There are seasons for leaders.
Thank them and get on with your big vision!
This is your future.

Elevating Automotive Partnerships!

I am kicking myself.
I created a program that was firing on all cylinders.
I was helping our best Vendors+Suppliers in Automotive improve their impact and be a greater value to our Dealers in Automotive.
Transforming Automotive Partnerships!

I listened to naysayers. Nice industry folks who were 'helping' me:
"Transforming Automotive Partnerships is too obscure."
"People don't want to change, they think they're fine, Laurie"
"Why would a reasonably successful vendor want you to work with their people? They have people inside to do this."

And now I stand here today kicking myself.
Hard.
I needed to press these very companies who are now releasing their people!
This could have helped ensure their highest level of dealership value. I needed to stop listening to the unaware telling me this was not needed or necessary.

Between CarGurusCars.com TrueCar, Inc.Edmunds, thousands 'dismissed'. Factor in AutoNation with their 3500 permanent layoffs last week!

I have proven ways to help prevent this. Fact.
This is not just the economy- it's the importance of your people and your customers every with possible advantage.

So today, I'm altering the name, but not the mission: #ElevatingAutomotivePartnerships!'
I'm taking a stand for you, your people and our industry.

Turning Digital Marketing Efforts In To Real Life Shoppers!

Are your Digital Marketing efforts opening up conversations or simply showing customers who may have been interested in one solitary piece of your inventory they found on their own?

Everyone is spending a lot of money for 'leads' on cars that may not even be available, affordable, or fit the customers' needs.

But then, we bury them alive with dozens of calls/texts/emails for a few days and bug the S#!% out of them- driving them away for when they do wish they had a dealership or a person they could trust.

Great process! Thank you all Digital Marketing companies and all Trainers. Way to drive away real shoppers. With a 90% failure rate, however, dealers are still gladly paying 50-60,000 per month for these results. The next time you're upset with the weatherman for being wrong 50% of the time- and still getting paid for it- let's think about this. This is our world and it it real.

Don't accept this any longer. You cannot afford to, even if you have the money to burn
