On Work Thoughts for This Weekend.
Anything can happen as we have seen more clearly than ever in the last few weeks.
The economy
Our OEMs
Interest rates
Horrific events at schools and other formerly safe places
Leadership hits and misses
Business struggles
In all of this all we can do is control our controllables.
You are the captain of your ship as the poem would say.
You are the master of your destiny.
But what are you doing towards that end?
We get so upset, incensed even, by the people who work for us failing to meet their potential, yet we are the ones who are charged to set the vision and execute brilliantly.
We put people in place that don't even agree with us and we take their lip service for granted lazily, rather than face the fact that we have put far too much trust in them.
We want others to get organized and be organized around us, yet we're not doing the most important things that we can to organize our own lives and our own businesses.
The voice in your head and and in your heart gets louder in the quiet until you get busy and shut it out again.
I encourage each of you to stop working so hard.
We are spending immense amounts of
Time
Energy
Adrenaline
Sweat
Effort yet winding up in the same place.
Only it's a little worse each time, because you're getting exhausted, demotivated, disinterested.
Some even become cynical.
Yes, there are the precious few that realize it and hear the clarion call and wake up and take action. But most do not.
Is it a conscious choice or an unconscious decision?
I think it varies.
But the results don't.
Start listening to the reminder of who you are supposed to be and your fullest potential and the impact you can make on the lives of others.
Start telling yourself you deserve every bit of greatness and success but you need to do the work.
I'm here to help.
It's truly a pleasure to be considered a trusted resource by so many in our industry, Automotive Retail
OEMs
Automotive Adjacent companies and far beyond these days.
I took a much needed and still abbreviated work and personal visit to Europe.
I met with people, global leaders, who confirmed my beliefs that our industry is facing undeniable and probably irreversible changes.
I saw sights that took my breath away at first only to make me wonder how these beautiful things even came into being, the effort it took to get and keep them there. And it makes me wonder why our efforts are so short sighted, our frustrations so quick in the scope of our history, our legacy.
I stood in awe of places that remain not for decades but for centuries, even millennia.
I realized with such clarity how short our time is here, how imperative it is that we do everything that is in our heart and soul to get it right.
There are no dress rehearsals.
This is it.
Are you happy?
Is there more out there you know you can and should accomplish?
Let's get to work.
