Tonight, I arrived home to yet another package. It's curious how normal it has become to have stacks of packages almost daily at the door and in the mailbox.
But this was no ordinary package.
Just days prior to the one year anniversary of my dear friend Anne Marie's passing, her sister, my friend Patricia Costick was so thoughtful and sent me one of the beautiful bracelets Anne Marie made.
I went with her on local trips to find beads for her jewelry making, but she went on so many longer trips with our mutual friends Cheri and Gerald. They even traveled to special places in Mexico.
She had a sweet little room at the back of her house with beautiful wood walls and big windows to her backyard where she created all of her jewelry and bead work. I loved that room.
While the thing I wish I had most was more time with her, I will treasure this bracelet and wear it often as a precious reminder of her.
Thank you for your love and thoughtfulness, Trish. Sending you love and continued comfort.
Anne Marie, you are deeply missed from the bottom of my still aching heart.

While not a huge fan of my last name as a young girl, I've grown fond of it over the years. Most adults don't call me names like 'FosterGrant' 'Foster's Beer' or one I actually love, 'Are you a Foster Child?' Well, yes, in fact I am and am an avid support of Foster kids including our favored corporate charity, FOSTER VILLAGE CHARLOTTE.
I now love the fact that 'Foster' carries a lot of meaning, multiple meanings even.

Nice, right? And in total alignment with the services I offer.

I was able to attend one of Erin Lydon's live Poker Power events recently at the PayTech Women, formerly Wnet conference in #Atlanta.
My friend and colleague, David Blum had already reached out to be sure Erin and I would meet several months earlier, so I was especially thrilled to know that I would be present to participate after learning about this exceptional program from him.
I learned the language of Poker and several important tips in the short time I was there. The learnings for all, were outstanding.
In their careers, women are infrequently brought into the cloistered conversations and experiences of negotiation skills. What a glaring miss from leaders, yet this singular event was eye-opening and is already leading to further investigation and confidence.

On Trolls: In fairy tales they are mythical ugly creatures who live under bridges and try to scare people with their frightening appearance and loud noises.
On LinkedIn they tend to look like entry level management wannabe's who wish they had control in their own homes.
They are known for their complete lack of original thinking and courage.
Nothing but boisterous bullying and what-about- ism.
Plus an extra large heap of misogyny, perhaps to offset a less than generous portion somewhere on their personhood.
Put your cyberthreat fingers away and write something intelligent, insightful and usefulof your own.
It takes time and it's not as easy as it looks, but it is a worthy investment.
Until then, back to your caves and clubs boys.
We've got work to do out here.

I am proud to support an organization that happens to share my last name and my company name...meet FOSTER VILLAGE CHARLOTTE.
They offer desperately needed and always appreciated support to those families who open their hearts, homes and lives to serving the needs of children in the overburdened Foster Care system.
The calls come in at 3am for a newborn needing immediate placement.
For siblings of various ages, with assorted needs.
All have been through trauma.
Many have physical challenges.
All are hurting.
Most often, these babies through teenagers arrive with literally a plastic waste bag with their belongings.
Some only have the clothes on their backs.
Not one spare diaper, no food, no health or hygiene items...nothing.
Can you imagine?
This month, I will do my best to raise additional awareness.
