Traction: What it takes to move you from great ideas to solid, sustainable successes.
As I coach businesses with these and other sound principles, there is one thing that happens early on I wanted to share with you today.

Initially, there are many eye-opening and a-ha moments. Everyone is suddenly aware of a better, faster path and can see their role in making progress towards a greater future, together.

Here's a conference and event question for you: Are you satisfied with attending conferences seminars events where you know that the only reason the keynote speaker is speaking is because of how much they paid? Are you really getting the best talent? No you're not you know it.

Everyone knows it.

At a minimum great speakers should be given admission to the conference and/or travel compensation. The best events pay their speakers because they want the best event possible for their attendees.

How do I know? Because that's how it operates for me.

On Managing an Abundance of Traffic: The Airport Edition

As I fly out to Miami this morning it's apparent there is a tidal wave of enthusiasm for traveling right now.

There are also a tsunami of emotions on full display. 🥰😥🤯🥳

The airlines got exactly what they wanted. Absolutely full planes making the most of every drop of fuel they burn and every bit of personnel they employ.

But what is this chaos? And where is the luggage going?
And what is happening to the correlating value for their customers?

We don't need fancy, albeit obscure words like data, AI and algorithms for this problem.

This was easy enough to predict with simple math.

It reminds me of unintended but easy enough to anticipate challenges and hurdles we face in our industry.

'Too much' or 'too little' are often the inflection points at which many clients contact me for the specific strategies and solutions I create daily.

On a Quick Reminder about Leadership Effectiveness.

Responsibility without Authority is useless. This can completely erode the confidence of the people who work for these leaders as they quickly figure out that their leader is powerless, leaving them to give up or circumvent the chain of command.

Titles alone will never get the job done. It takes empowerment, expectations and accountability but absolutely requires authority to make decisions and act also.

Responsibility plus authority and failing to act is a complete waste of time and hope and will devolve quickly.

Great leadership is necessary.
And quite frankly, rare.

Great leadership is not led by a big ego but it is very, very proud of the work their teams can do together.

Get to work cleaning up your titles, cleaning up what you want each role to perform, and getting larger than life he goes out of the way and let the team get to work.

Many companies find this work difficult to stomach even if they identified their Leadership challenges...and that's when they call me.

I'm tidying up all of my news channels and subscriptions and as I adjusted my NYT, I'm now able to add their Sunday paper, which I love, for only a pennies a week.

I still receive the Wall Street Journal print and digital edition plus a variety of other news channels, paid and free.

I was currently paying over $250 a year for full digital access plus games. I had a feeling that might be a better deal out there.

Here's where the good stuff comes in:
They are offering me two free all-access digital subscriptions for a friend.

A Sunday evening thought for my LinkedIn friends and family.

I cannot count the times I have been asked when and where I started writing. I really couldn't tell you.

All I know is that I made a decision and I began.

We each have a unique perspective based on the work we do, how we see the world around us and our interactions with others.

I encourage you tonight to put pen to paper or your fingers on the keyboard this week and begin. Just begin!

I have written 1000+ posts and they have had millions of views and still, my goal is never to please everyone or get it all right.

My intention remains to have real conversations, build connections and create inspiration and hope for others.

My only hope is that I'm accomplishing these things.

Perfection is not the goal.

On a Frequent Traveler Update: Last week they tore the wall down between the current terminal and all that is new at #CLT.

There were still tall fabric barriers making it difficult to see, but I joined a couple of curious employees in peeking behind them.

The not-so-new-anymore parking garage with the rental car parking next to the terminal is amazing and now the arrivals and departures experiences are taking a giant leap forward in functionality and aesthetics.

There's been a good deal of turmoil at this airport and there's still a long way to go, but Charlotte Douglas International Airport - CLT is getting closer to living up to its place as 6th busiest airport in the country.

Now it's time for #AmericanAirlines to step up and upgrade and increase their capacity at their tired and overrun #AdmiralsClubs please and thank you.

On GM's Quarterly Report: My 'Things You'd Better Hurry Up On' Edition

I'm always tracking patterns. It requires taking in a lot of information from a lot of sources and keeping emotion out of the conversation.

As your armchair automotive analyst and full-time strategist today, I read General Motors 's earnings reports carefully.

Since I am also keenly aware of what's happening with our dealerships and consumer behavior, I'm a little more concerned than even Mary Barra portends to be.

Here are two of my key takeaways followed by current dealership trends and my recommendations.

1) Tough Timing: Inventory is going to start to free up just as Americans start to tighten their belts. So yes some of the earliest inventory may have ready clients, depending on the product mix this could become a challenge in the very near future.

Dealers: Product mix and purchasing Used vehicles correctly is going to become very important.

Foster Focus Recommends: Establish new metrics looking forward deep into 2023 and even 24, with agility and constant oversight of microtrends.

Assess the people currently in key seats who make Inventory decisions.

2) Belt Tightening: Our OEMs have Already exercised extreme cost construction initiatives internally perit lives internally. Bar it indicates that in 2019 and 20 approximately 4.5 billion dollars in annual costs Is to help prepare for a potential downturn.

Dealers: The only cutbacks we've seen with most dealers is getting rid of or a drastic reduction of #AutomotiveAdjacent services including marketing that they didn't feel they needed during this last 12-24 months.

Foster Focus Recommends: Meet with a professional to review all expense controls. We help people establish a production level per seat. This serves to accurately inform current payroll efforts.

Other key items include reviewing all expenditures, the person responsible for results and recent results.

Finally for today, Ford Motor Company 's results come out today followed by Stellantis tomorrow.

Track these stories closely and be prepared to act.

When our #OEM's are telling their investors they are tightening and expected headwinds, we need to pay attention and respond in kind.

Foster Focus Recommends: It's time now to closely examine very recent changes changes including:

⭐️ Inventory availability, demand and pricing
⭐️ Track consumer behavior and spending
⭐️ Identify and track productivity and profitability per associate, straight through and to your leadership team.
